Sister Tresa Margret belongs to the Franciscan Clarist Congregation from Kerala, India. In 1970, Archbishop Leo Binz, the Archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis, invited the Franciscan Clarist Sisters to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. In June 1970, Sr. Tresa came to St. Therese Parish in Deephaven, Minn., at the invitation of Fr. Jerome J. Janski, who at the time was pastor. She started her teaching at St. Therese School in third grade. She taught third grade for fifteen years and helped with the religious education program and other ministries in the parish before she moved to St. Agnes parish in Vermillion, SD, where she taught second grade class for two years. Then she served the parish as DRE and Parish minister for seven years before she came to St. John the Baptist parish in Vermillion, MN, in 1994. Since then, Sr. Tresa served at St. John the Baptist parish and school as a teacher, principal and Faith Formation director. In May 2016, she retired from school administration.
She currently serves St. John the Baptist Parish in Vermillion, St. Mathias parish in Hampton and St. Mary’s parish in New Trier as Faith Formation director and Pastoral Care minister. She has a Masters Degree in Education and another Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies from the University of St. Thomas.
She enjoys watching her students grow up and excel in their professions as doctors, engineers, teachers, nurses, farmers, etc. It gives so much joy and pride to watch children of her former students attending St. John School.
