Vermillion students begin Lenten devotion

Second graders at St John the Baptist Catholic School in Vermillion lead the Stations of the Cross, a weekly Christian devotion during the 40 days known as the Lenten season. The entire school prays at each of the 14 statues or "stations" in the historic Vermillion church that together tell the Gospel story of Jesus' journey to Golgotha, or the Place of the Skull, on Calvary, the place of his crucifixion.  Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the season of Lent. It is a season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, which prepares us for Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday. Pictured from left to right are Piper Brockman, Nicholas Karnick and Collin McGuire.
