Alligator, snakes enlighten St. John's Science Club students

Not many Science Club members at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Vermillion expected to see a 4-foot alligator in the gym when school was dismissed. But that's exactly what stopped in to kick off the school's 10-week, after-school science program for students in grades 2 through 5. Actually, Ms. Jan Larsen, a member of the Minnesota Herpetological Society, visited the school and led the students in a science lesson on reptiles and amphibians. Other visitors included Ty, a fox snake; Miss Piggy, a hognose snake; a small python, and a milk snake.
